Kennel News

Another year has come and gone and we here at Conway Kennels would like once again to thank you for your continued patronage.

It was a very good year and we had a group of really nice hunting dogs to train. With a lot of you going to Montana or the Dakotas to hunt pheasant, we are now seeing more and more pointing dogs in the kennel. The nice thing is that whether it is a pointing dog or a flushing dog, the dogs after having there first formal training get some real good practical experiences to go along with their training. Finding a lot of birds that first year really sets the tone for having a very productive hunting companion for years to come.

Duck and Goose Hunting has also been very good so all the young dogs have or should have had some opportunity for some good times during the season.

Gary’s hunt test group faired well for the year and he was successful in titling a number of his young dogs at both the master and senior level. Gary has a really nice string of young field trial dogs and we are excited about running them in the upcoming year.

We are looking foreword to this trial season as our group of older field trial dogs should be very competitive this year. We are very lucky to have a group of owners that work so hard together and help each other out come rain or shine. They are truly the best and most fun group I have had the pleasure of working with for years.

The biggest news for the year was the return of Brooke Jr. to the kennel to train hunting dogs. He has trained for me in the past and started going to the field with me when he was just big enough to crawl up in the dog truck. He took a few years off to work at a Dairy farm and decided to return to train dogs again.

While Brooke Jr. does the Hunting dogs his Wife Mel handles the Boarding end of the business. She has years of experience with animals having worked in a vet’s for both large and small animals for years and then side by side with her husband on the dairy.

Mel does a wonderful job handling the Boarding end of things and has really given Charlotte, some much needed time to handle the business end of things.

For your convenience we are now accepting Visa and MasterCard.

We receive quite a few emails in regard to training and or boarding; some questions are much easier answered via a phone call, feel free to call us at 360-445-6901

We will be glad to answer any questions you might have.

I apologize for not keeping this news page up to date we will do a better job in the future.

It has been a very busy year on the boarding end of things as more and more people are moving this way and the need for reservations well in advance of a planned trip would be appreciated.

Remember we are open seven days a week from 8:00 am until 8:00pm to serve you and there is someone at the kennel at all times.

Once again thank you for Patronage over the last Year.

Brooke, Charlotte, Gary Abbott, Brooke Jr. and Mel
